Actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels says her mum, Rita Daniels, warned her against marrying Senator Ned Nwoko but she paid deaf ears, stressing that she fell in love.
In a video on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress asked Nigerians to stop insulting her mother following her ongoing marital crisis.
She clarified that she did not marry him out of greed and said her family had initially advised her against the union.
“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. For some reason, I feel like I owe you all this explanation because I don’t know why everyone is in pain about my life. But I don’t feel like you all are pained from a bad side.
She said “please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years. My mom held it down. She tried. You all insulted her. But she tried. It’s me. I’m the one with the coconut head.
“I’m ashamed to say I fell in love but I actually did and it’s crazy. Everyone said no. You all should stop saying that I married out of greed. We were no broke.
“And secondly, what do you guys think?
“What amount of money can a man give to a mother to get her child that is practically providing everything in the house? I was her only source of lively-hood
“My mother, my brother and everybody warned me. I drove out at night one day trying kill myself if I don’t marry Ned”.
Regina further revealed that the pressure surrounding her marriage once pushed her to contemplate suicide, adding that despite the turmoil, she is committed to fighting for her children.
