Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello says the development of agricultural abundant potentials in the state will lead to food sufficiency in Nigeria.
Governor Sani Bello disclosed this in an interview after he held a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammad Sabo Nanono in Abuja.
The Governorin a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berje said his meeting with the Minister was centred on empowering farmers.
According to him, there is the need to develop the sector by supporting the farmers so as to improve productivity.
“We talked about Agriculture and how we can develop the sector because we strongly believe with the potentials of agriculture in Nigeria, we should have some food sufficiency.
“So we discussed on how we should support our farmers and to improve things
when it comes to agriculture”, he said.
The Governor maintained that he is always in communication with the Minister on how best the sector can be strengthened especially in the State being that Agriculture is one of the top priorities of the present administration.
Recall that Niger State Government is already developing the sector through Agriculture-value-chain and the development of livestock sector to help curb the incessant herders-farmers’ clashes in the State.
