Some Ad-hoc Staff of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos have protested the shortpayment of their allowances and non payment of the previous ones.
According to some of them who spoke with journalists, it was confirmed that some of them were paid N13,000 instead of N17,000, saying that the sleeping beds which were supposed to be given to them at the local government were not available.
They lamented that a plate of food was provided for two of them to share, regretting their participation in the exercise.
Meanwhile, at polling unit 040 Ward D along Ipaja road, Agege, voters who had cast their votes said there was low turnout of voters.
By the time the collation centre officer at Dairy Farm Senior Secondary school beside the local government Secretariat visited, Adhoc staffs had already embarked on a peaceful protest.
Although, the Electoral Officer of the Local government, who spoke in confidence said the Adhoc staff had been paid their training allowances, saying that those protesting were expected to have collected their training allowances at the office in the Local Government.
