The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has confirmed that an explosion happened around 5:50 p.m. on December 10, 2025, near the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.
The explosion was confirmed in a statement by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC Ltd.
NNPCL said that early assessments show a pressure drop on an NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline, which points to a loss of containment.
The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined and will be established following a comprehensive investigation.
The statement reads: “NNPC Limited confirms an incident involving an explosion reported at about 17:50 hours on 10th December 2025 near Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.
