The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abia State Command, has arrested three suspected aluminium vandals at Modern Ceramics, Umuahia, Abia State.

The suspects, identified as Uchechukwu Godwin, 38, from Umuana Ndume Ibeku, Ikechukwu Obasi, 43, from Akanu in Ohafia LGA, both in Abia State, and Vincent Ogbonna Oka, 25, from Afikpo South in Ebonyi State.

They were arrested by the Crack Squad in collaboration with the state vigilante group following credible intelligence. Large quantities of aluminium sheets were seized during the operation.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Abia State Command, Doreen Udugwu, disclosed this on Tuesday in a press statement.

The release also stated that in another operation carried out with the Nigerian Navy, NSCDC arrested four vandals in Isuikwuato LGA, Abia State.

The suspects were found with two vehicles (a Lexus ES 350 and a Mitsubishi bus) filled with vandalised railway sleepers, gas cylinders, shovels, diggers, cutlasses, and spanners.

According to NSCDC, the suspects, identified as Ike Promise Emeka, 30, from Amechi Akwunanu LGA in Enugu State, Ugenyi Onyedika, 35, from Oguduasa in Isuikwuato LGA, Ifeanyi Okorie, 35, also from Oguduasa in Isuikwuato LGA, and Chidiebere Augustine, 29, from Amiyi Uhu in Isuikwuato LGA, all in Abia State, were arrested by the Crack Squad unit of the NSCDC.

The statement added that the suspects were paraded by the Abia State Commandant of the NSCDC, Akinsola Aderemi, at the State Headquarters in Umuahia, where the Commandant announced that further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the criminal activities.
