The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim Matene has described late Senator Nuhu Aliyu as a great man of courage dedicated to Nigeria.
Aliyu a former Senator for Niger North,died on Wednesday in Kaduna State following a brief illness.
Reacting to the new of his death in a statement on Wednesday, Matane, said the State has lost a man of inestimable value, adding that his advice would be greatly missed.
“The patriotic tendencies and excellent handling of legislative duties concerning the welfare of people and the nation demonstrated by late Senator Nuhu Aliyu are worthy of emulations.
“But we must take solace in the fact that from God we all come and to Him we shall all return. Nobody shall live longer than the time appointed by Almighty God,” the statement partly reads.
Born in 1941, Aliyu rose through the ranks of the police force until he got to the position of deputy inspector-general of police.
He was in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) before he retired.Advertisement
Aliyu was first elected into the senate in 1999 and was reelected in 2003 and 2007.
