Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has sworn- in the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Musa Ikhilor and the Attorney General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Samson Osagie.
The swearing in of the attorney- general followed his screening and confirmation by the State house of Assembly on Wednesday.
The Governor had on Tuesday, 12th November, 2024, barely two hours after his swearing-in, announced the nomination of Barr. Ikhilor and Hon. Osagie.
Speaking during the swearing in at the Government House, the Governor charged them to help him achieve his vision for the State and ensure that the people come first.
He stated, “I was voted to work, and everybody should be ready to work. I carefully selected these appointees. They have proven integrity. I will work with them so that we can do the best we should do. During my campaigns, I promised to work and give Edo people the best, and that’s what we have done with these appointments. Our best is yet to come”.
The SSG, Barr. Ikhilor, said his team will help the Governor in fulfilling his campaign promises by driving meaningful change and development in the State.
Also, the AG and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Osagie, said in his new capacity, he will help the Governor achieve his agenda for the people.
He stressed that he will strive to preserve and uphold the fundamental objectives of the constitution and will not allow personal interest to distort his official conduct while discharging his duties.
“I will ensure that the rights of Edo people are protected,” he concluded.
In attendance during the swearing in was the Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Denise Idahosa, the Head of Service, Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, the APC Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah, His Royal Highness, Mallam Aliu Suleman, amongst other dignitaries.
