The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has sparked a royal storm after publicly accusing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, of having an affair with his ex-wife and conspiring to end his life.
In a viral video shared on Instagram, Oba Akanbi alleged that his former wife, whom he claimed was introduced to him from Canada, was deliberately planted in his palace as part of a calculated scheme.
According to the outspoken monarch, the woman lived with him for over three years while secretly working with powerful allies, including the Ooni of Ife, to destabilize his reign.
“They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her from Canada. It was a setup. She was in my house for over three years, communicating with them and plotting my death,” Oba Akanbi said.
The traditional ruler further alleged that his ex-wife poisoned him on two occasions and made multiple assassination attempts while married to him. He added that doubts now surround the paternity of the child born during their marriage, stating he intends to conduct a DNA test to confirm.
Oba Akanbi went on to claim that after he sent the woman away, the Ooni allegedly provided accommodation for her and was seen with her at a hotel.
“She had a child, whom I don’t even know if he’s my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA,” the monarch said.
The Oluwo warned that his feud with the Ooni of Ife would “never end,” hinting at deeper cracks in the relationship between the two traditional rulers.
The Oluwo of Iwo is known for his bold and controversial statements, often stirring heated debates within Nigeria’s traditional and entertainment circles.
His fresh allegations against the Ooni of Ife, one of the most influential Yoruba monarchs, have fueled intense reactions online, with social media users trading opinions over the shocking claims.
