The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, has said he is formally back to join his Party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Agboola said this on Monday at the PDP Secretariat in Akure, the Ondo State capital, as he officially joined the Party less than five months to the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state.
The Depuy Governor was received by the State Chairman of the PDP, Engineer Clement Faboyede, alongside other Party chieftains.
Present at the event were the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, former Governor of Ekiti State, Peter Fayose, APC chieftains loyal to the Deputy Governor, amongst others.
The Deputy Governor, who noted that the PDP has demonstrated and shown that it is a Party rooted in democratic practices, promised to provide leadership that will lead the party to victory.
According to him, “Members of the State Executive Committee of the PDP, teeming supporters and members of PDP, I am here this afternoon, to inform you that, I have now decided to come to PDP. I am one of the pioneer members of the the party, so, I know the rules and guidelines and I will not do anything against the Party’s constitution”.
While responding, the PDP National chairman, Uche Secondus, assured him of full cooperation, noting that the Party does not discriminate.
Secondus also spoke on the anomalies in Nigeria, particularly the saga between the Deputy Governor and the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, describing it as abysmal.
“We will take the matter up at the national level because if a CP could do such a thing, then, we are not safe”.
