The Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BSPHCDA) has disclosed an outbreak of yellow fever in Ganjuwa Local Government Areas (LGA) of Bauchi State .
The Chairman of the agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Bauchi on Monday,said eight deaths have been recorded while eight samples tested positive.
According to him, the polio team of the agency were in communities in Ganjuwa for routine exercise and discovered that eight people have died of an unknown disease, so they reported back.
He said “ samples were brought for Lassa fever and yellow fever tests and all the samples tested positive for yellow fever.

Mohammed who appealed to the public not to panic as yellow fever has a vaccine said the agency would begin vaccination exercise immediately.
The chairman said that the community members were predominantly farmers,he said a similar outbreak of yellow fever was recorded last year in six LGA of Bauchi, Alkaleri, Warji, Ningi, Kirfi and Darazo around the same time of the year.
He however advised the public on the use of mosquito nets as a preventive measure against other types of fever.
