A frontline community group; the All Owo Progressive and Development Association (AOPDA) has condemned the attack on the Catholic Church in Owo.
The Association made this condemnation on Sunday in a statement signed by it’s President; Dr. Yemi Mahmud; and made available to PRESENT NIGERIA.
The statement reads in full:
The All Owo Progressive and Development Association (AOPDA) condemn in its entirety, the unprovoked and unwarranted attack on the Catholic Church, Owaluwa Owo during today’s Sunday Service claiming many lives.
We are deeply saddened by this ugly incident.
This is violence taken to the domain of the sitting Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu who is also at the forefront of combating security challenges in Nigeria.
The AOPDA condole with the Owo people, particularly the families of the victims of this dastard act; the Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III and the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who is a worthy son of Owo Kingdom.
While calling on the State Government to do all possible to fish out the perpetrators of this act, the AOPDA is calling on government at all levels to work on the security architecture of the country with a view to protecting the lives and properties of the Nigerian citizens.
