Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly abducted the traditional ruler of Panyam town in Mangu Local Government Area of the Plateau State, His royal Highness, Aminu Derwan.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the palace of the paramount ruler at around midnight on Sunday, shooting sporadically, to scare people before whisking the monarch away.
Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said efforts are ongoing to rescue the traditional ruler.
According to him, the DPO of the area, the anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical teams are there to ensure the rescue of the victim.
