The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four individuals involved in the illegal production and sale of fake herbicides within the metropolis.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, on Sunday.

According to Wakil, a team of detectives from the Command’s Monitoring Unit acted on credible intelligence and uncovered the operation on May 3, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., in a residential area of Unguwan Liman, Bauchi.

Those arrested include 21-year-old Usman Suleman of Karofin Madaki, 20-year-old Ahmad Musa of Wuntin Dada, and 17-year-old Muhammad Nuhu of Fadaman Mada. The trio were caught in the act of producing counterfeit herbicides on-site.

A search of the premises led to the discovery of incriminating materials: 26 cartons labeled “Force Up,” an empty carton of “Gobora,” two plastic drums filled with suspicious liquids, two buckets, 100 empty one-litre “Force Up” containers, sealing tapes, super glue, leather materials, charcoal, welding spoons, and a charcoal stove.

During interrogation, the suspects named Muhammad Muhammad, 36, of Fadaman Mada, as a key player in the operation. He was also arrested.

All suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with police vowing to root out similar illegal activities across the state.
