Tactical teams and the Anti-Kidnapping department of the Rivers State Police Command have begun a manhunt for the abductors of a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Aribibia John Fubara who was kidnapped in Port Harcourt.
According to various accounts, gunmen numbering about six, on a Speedboat, last Saturday August 24, 2024, at about 8:20pm, came through Okrika Waterfront near Marine Base, area of Port Harcourt and shot sporadically into air.
After carefully identifying their target, they brazenly whisked their victim away into a boat and zoomed off to an unknown destination.
The victim simply identified as Aribibia John Fubara, is also a Knight of Saint Christopher, in the Anglican Communion, could not be traced at the time of filing this report.
His captors, are yet to established contact, but the younger brother, Emmanuel Fubara, who confirmed the kidnapped incident said the matter has been officially reported to the Police.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said:
“The command is aware of the incident and the Commissioner of Police ,CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed the tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt.
“A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book,” Iringe-Koko said
