A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to Mopol 12, Niger State, Isah Abdullahi (aka Kunkuri), has shot himself dead amid allegations of arms and ammunition supply to bandits.
The late Isah was the Head of Armoury at Mopol 12, located within B Division Police Command, Paikoro Road, Minna.
A team of detectives from Abuja visited for a routine annual audit of arms and ammunition.
During the audit, it was discovered that 13 AK-47 rifles and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition were missing or unaccounted for.
The audit reportedly covered only the AK-47 section before the tragic incident occurred.
Inspector John Moses, attached to the Niger State Government House, was also arrested.
Moses reportedly confessed that the late DSP supplied him arms and ammunition, which were sold to bandits and hoodlums in Erena community, Shiroro LGA, through his brother.
Operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) took suspects to Abuja for further investigation.
The deceased DSP reportedly owned multiple houses in choice areas of Minna and several cars.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adamu Elleman, confirmed the incident.
