There were unlimited showers of praises and prayers from beneficiaries on Sunday, as the Founder, MyChoice Group, Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, presented palliatives to the needy, widows and aged, in the spirit of the celebration of Christmas.
Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole is an aspirant for the Akure North & South Federal Constituency under the All Progressive Congress (APC)
The event which took place at the Akure Town Hall, saw hundreds of beneficiaries; numbering over 800 widows and the aged; smiling home with various food items which included 2kg of rice, 2kg of beans, noodles, sachet groundnut oil, salt, sachet meal seasoners, among others.
Speaking shortly after the ceremony, Ohwovoriole said the event was an annual one which she conceptualized in 2012.
She said that the idea of giving back to the society; especially the needy, widows and aged; was borne out of her humane love for humanity; and not for any pecuniary gain or political motive.
She also said her passion was to put smiles on the faces of her people and to financially equip the needy; especially the women and widows; so as to enable them become dependent, earn a living, and thus, live a better life.
“Today, I have reached out to that class of the society who are the needy, the widows and the aged, in my specially packaged programme which I dubbed ‘Christmas Palliative’ because it is coming at this Yuletide season where we; the more privileged ones in the society; are expected to give back to the society by extending our hands of love and care to these classes of people. I have been doing it since 2012, and it is borne out of my genuine love for humanity and not for any pecuniary gain nor neither is it for any political motive”.
“It is not until one is blessed so abundantly before one can consider helping others. Everyone must try to help others in need, in their own little way. At least, that is what the Christmas season stands for”.
While noting that she is nothing without her people, Hon. Ohwovoriole said she runs two different Foundations/Groups – the Monisola Foundation; which financially empowers women at no cost and MyChoice Group; which processes soft loans to help small business owners to effectively run their businesses.
While wishing the beneficiaries well as they collected their gifts, Hon. Ohwovoriole prayed for them on a better and prosperous Year 2022.
In attendance at the mega Christmas Palliatives distribution were APC leaders at the State and Local Government levels in Akure South and North, religious and traditional leaders, scores of women groups, among others.
