The oldest living former US President Jimmy Carter, turned 96 on Thursday.
To celebrate him members of the local community and Maranatha Baptist Church organised a birthday parade outside their home in plains,Georgia according to tweets from carter center.
The celebration included balloons, golf carts, American flags, face masks and socially distanced waves from Carter and his wife, Rosalynn.


His milestone birthday comes after a year of serious health challenges. Last year, Carter suffered from various falls and underwent brain surgery. In 2015, he survived cancer.
As the son of a Georgia peanut farmer, he grew up not only to be president, but also a Nobel Peace Prize winner d a Grammy Award winner. He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States from 1977 to 1981. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a Georgia State Senator from 1963 to 1967 and as the 76th governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975.
