Folarera Ademola, a ND1 student from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo has allegedly been killed by an officer of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State.
The student was said to have been shot dead on June 27, in front of his parents’ home, according to Olorunda Oluwafemi, President of the Students’ Union.
The deceased, according to Oluwafemi, endured his gunshot wounds for ten days before being transported to the Federal Medical Center, Owo, where he gave up the ghost yesterday, Thursday.
Following the incident, Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo on Friday trooped out to protest the death of their colleague.
The students have given the state government a 24-hour deadline to hand over the Amotekun officer who fired the shots to the Nigeria Police for legal action.
The students are also demanding that the government must make arrangement for the deceased’s burial,as well as pay compensation to his family.
However, the Amotekun Corps in a statement said the deceased was hit by the bullets when he was struggling to disarm an officer of the Corps during an operation.
