Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has rejected a viral online report claiming he resigned because he could not stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing his brothers in the forest.
Badaru said the report was malicious, false and baseless, adding that it did not come from him or anyone authorised to speak for him.
In a statement he personally signed on Tuesday, he said the story was fabricated to damage his reputation and create the impression that he was in conflict with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I wish to state categorically and unequivocally that this publication is entirely false, deliberately mischievous, and did not originate from me or from any authorized representative acting on my behalf,” he said.
He said the people behind the report wanted to tarnish his image, create friction between him and the Commander-in-Chief, and cause unnecessary distractions.
Badaru said the real reasons for his resignation had already been formally communicated to President Tinubu and made public through traditional and social media.
“Any suggestion of an alternative or inflammatory motive is a complete falsehood engineered by mischief makers,” he said.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I wish to reassure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, and the good people of Nigeria that I remain firmly committed to the peace, security, and stability of our nation,” he said.
Badaru also pledged to continue supporting the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
