Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a 50 percent reduction in fares on the state’s Blue Line rail service for Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The governor said the decision was taken to commemorate the second anniversary of the Blue Line’s commercial operations, which commenced in September 2023 on the Marina–Mile 2 corridor.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the progress achieved since the launch of the project, noting that the Blue Line has safely conveyed over five million passengers without recording a single accident.

“In just two years, the Blue Line has transported more than five million passengers safely. Trains now operate at 10-minute intervals, completing over 90 trips daily. What used to be long, stressful journeys are now faster and more convenient,” he said.

The governor added that the rail service had become a symbol of what could be achieved through dedication and collective effort.

“This project belongs to all of us. It is your trust and belief in a greater Lagos that has made this progress possible. To mark the second anniversary, I am pleased to announce a 50 percent fare reduction on the Blue Line for tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, 2025. If you haven’t experienced the Blue Line yet, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we’ve built together,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He assured residents that the state government remained committed to expanding infrastructure that would make mobility across Lagos easier, safer, and faster.

“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire,” he added.
