The Nigerian Senate has called on President Bola Tinubu to remove Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), citing repeated refusal to attend Senate hearings on the agency’s finances.
The resolution was passed by the Senate Committee on Finance during its session in Abuja on Thursday.
Senator Sani Musa, chairman of the committee, accused Magaji of repeatedly ignoring invitations to explain CAC’s revenue reconciliation and other financial matters.
“He refused on so many occasions to honour our invitation to appear before this committee,” Musa said.
“We have issues with the reconciliation of the revenue of CAC. Each time we invite him, he gives us excuses.”
The committee’s resolution urges President Tinubu to consider immediate removal of the Registrar General to ensure accountability and restore confidence in the management of CAC’s financial operations.
The Corporate Affairs Commission, which oversees company registration and regulatory compliance in Nigeria, has faced scrutiny following delays linked to the adoption of an AI-driven portal, which reportedly slowed productivity in 2025.
