President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year tenure extension for the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin, with effect from January 5, 2026.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the extension followed the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

The decision, the statement noted, is aimed at ensuring the continuity and completion of critical reforms already initiated by Mr. Adebomehin in Nigeria’s geospatial data and land management systems.

President Tinubu, who expressed confidence in Adebomehin’s leadership, tasked him with consolidating reforms in national land administration, highways and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other strategic national projects.

Adebomehin, who was appointed Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari on January 5, 2022, is expected to deepen institutional reforms designed to modernize mapping, survey standards, and digital land information systems across the country.

The tenure extension reinforces the administration’s commitment to effective land governance, infrastructure planning, and geospatial intelligence as key enablers of sustainable national development.
