President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji over his emergence as governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 Osun State guber election.
The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday declared that with his emergence APC, has officially begun its campaign to regain control of Osun State.
The President commended the Osun State chapter of the APC for conducting a calm and inclusive primary, describing the process as evidence of reconciliation and renewed unity within the party.
According to Tinubu, the outcome of the primary signals the beginning of the party’s effort to return Osun State to the progressive platform.
“The process of reclaiming Osun State in the 2026 governorship election has now commenced,” the President said.
He called on party leaders and members across the state to maintain unity, discipline and determination, stressing that success at the polls would depend on collective effort and cohesion.
Tinubu also applauded other aspirants who withdrew their ambitions and supported Oyebamiji, noting that their actions reflected commitment to party unity and the broader objectives of the APC.
Advising the candidate on the task ahead, the President urged Oyebamiji to consolidate the harmony displayed during the primary by carrying along all stakeholders, including former aspirants, in order to strengthen the party ahead of the election.
Oyebamiji was unanimously affirmed as the APC governorship candidate during the primary election supervised by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, an outcome party leaders believe has positioned the APC strongly for the 2026 contest.
