The count reads: “That you, Ibrahim Aisami (a.k.a Ibrahim Mai Kaza) sometimes in January 2020 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, being entrusted with dominion over certain properties to wit; Mercedes Benz C 200 Saloon with Chassis No. 328414 and Reg. No. KMC 227SA and Hyundai Country with Chassis No. 050914 and Reg. No. YLA 344PK by Suleiman Mohammed Tijjani for safe keeping while the vehicle particulars were still with him, sold the said vehicles without his consent and did dishonestly misappropriate the entire monies and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Cap. 102 Laws of Borno State of Nigeria and punishable under Section 312 of the same Law.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him and counsel for the prosecution, S.O Saka presented three witnesses and tendered several documents as exhibits.

Justice Kumaliya found the defendant guilty and thereafter convicted and sentenced Aisami to a term of six months or a fine of N50,000 ( Fifty Thousand Naira only). The judge further ordered the convict to pay the balance of N2,000,000( Two Million Naira only) to the petitioner or serve an additional three years jail term.

Aisami’s journey to the Correctional Centre started when a petitioner entrusted him with his vehicles and travelled to the Republic of Chad but to his dismay, the convict sold the vehicles and diverted the money to his personal use.

In another development, Dan-koli was convicted and sentenced by Justice Kumaliya to ten years imprisonment.

Dankoli was re-arraigned on Monday, 28 July 2025 by the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on a one -count amended charge bordering on misappropriation to the tune of N7,000,000.00 (Seven Million Naira only).

The count reads: “That you, Bunu Usman Dankoli and Gade Gadema Nigeria Limited sometime in 2019, in Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, misappropriated and converted for your own use the sum of N7,000,000.00 (Seven Million Naira only) belonging to one Aliyu Musa Shehu given to you for the execution of a contract purportedly awarded to you by a non-governmental organisation and thereby committed an offence contrary to 296 and punishable under Section 297 of the Borno State Penal Code Law and other matter connected therewith (No. 3 Vol. 48 Law 2023) respectively.”

The defendant pleaded guilty to the amended charge and counsel to the prosecution S.O Saka prayed the court to convict him accordingly. Counsel to the defendant A. Yaro informed the court that the petitioner had been fully restituted.

Justice Kumaliya thereafter convicted and sentenced Dankoli to pay a fine of N100,000.00 ( One Hundred Thousand Naira only) or 10 years imprisonment.

His journey to the Correctional Centre started when he collected N7m for a contract purportedly awarded by a non-governmental organization and diverted the money for his personal purpose.
