The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to restrain the activities of Vehicle Inspection officers on the Lagos road.
The declaration was made by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday at the official commissioning of Ojodu – Berger Pedestrian Bridge in Lagos.
The project which was carried out by the Lagos State Government is targeted at reducing traffic congestion and also to ease pedestrian crossing by the commuters in the densely Lagos/ Ibadan Expressway.
While addressing the mammoth crowd that witnessed the occasion, Governor Ambode directed all Vehicle Inspection Officers popularly known as VIO to stay off Lagos roads in order to ensure free flow of traffic in the state. “There shall be no more stopping or waiting by any vehicle on the express road. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure our roads are rid of traffic congestion.” He stated.
The newly built pedestrian Bridge is complete with the construction of lay-bys, slips roads and segregated bus park at Berger along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The governor also promised to build a food court where commuters will relax before climbing the bridge.
