Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has revealed why he remained single for 12 years after his first marriage ended.
The 58-year-old actor’s first marriage to actress Anne Njemanze ended in divorce in 1996. Arinze remarried Julie in 2008 after a long break.
In an interview with media personality Chude, Arinze shared that he was “confused about finding the right person” following his divorce from Njemanze.
Arinze admitted that before meeting Julie, he prayed to God in 2007 to help him find a wife, as he had been involved in numerous relationships.
He said: “I stayed out of marriage after my first one ended. I didn’t give up on marriage; I was just really confused about finding the right person. I had so many crazy relationships, both good and bad. In 2007, I cried to God, asking for a wife. I was desperate.
“Then, at a wedding, I saw this beautiful woman. I asked my PA to get her number, but he was too scared. Julius Agwu and I were the MCs at the event. Julius announced that I was looking for a wife. I approached her, got her contact, and invited her to dinner. That’s how it started. The rest is history.
“We’ve been married for sixteen years now and have three lovely children. She is a lawyer and also my legal adviser.
“When my first marriage ended in 1996, I chose not to speak about it. Even now, I don’t want to discuss it. It happened, and everyone has their own struggles.”
