Anger, frustration and lamentation have continued to dominate the tone of reactions to the spate of killings of the Nigeria’s immigrants in South Africa.
The outrage became more obvious with the decision of the Nigeria’s popular female artist, Tiwa Salvage to boycott the upcoming DStv Delicious Festival scheduled to hold in September 21st and 22nd at Johannesburg, South Africa.
In a statement on her Twitter handle, the hiphop crooner expressed her disappointment over the killings of Nigerians by South Africans and cited the barbaric acts as reason for shunning the upcoming event.
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is Sick. For this reason, I will not be performing at the upcoming Dstv Delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and their families.” She wrote on her Twitter handle.
DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival is a South Africa’s premier lifestyle event.
The international Festival on its debut in october 2013 at Johannesburg claimed to have taken the entertainment and culinary world by storm.
The 2019 edition is however expected to play host to the biggest names from both the culinary and music worlds while over 40,000 visitors are said to be in attendance.
While Tiwa Salvage had just announced her withdrawal, other internationally renowned artists expected to perform at the 2-day festival include: Raphael Sadiq, Kalawa Jazmee, Shimza, Cassper Nyovest, Lady Zamar, DJ PH, MS Cosmo, DJ Kent, Tortured Soul Ft. Lisa Shaw, Shekinna, Lira, Ten City and a host of others.
