The Zamfara State Government has approved the recruitment of 2,000 personnel into the state anti-thuggery outfit.
Mr Bello Bakyasuwa, chairman, state anti-thuggery standing committee disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Gusau on Thursday.
The committee was established by the state governor, Bello Matawalle, under Executive Order 2 to fight thuggery, drug abuse and other related crimes across the state.
Bakyasuwa said, “Yes, Governor Matawalle recently gave us approval for the recruitment of 2,000 personnel comprising males and females into the anti-thuggery outfit in the state.
“We received applications from 6,700 candidates comprising males and females seeking the job, we are currently on the recruitment.
“Apart from the 2,000 personnel to be recruited, we are going to recruit additional volunteer personnel.
“This is part of the state government’s commitments to expand the activities of fighting against thuggery, drug abuse and other related crimes across the 14 local government areas of the state.
“Immediately after the recruitment, we are going to deploy the newly-recruited personnel to their respective LGAs.”
