Suspected cultists have k!lled the son of the Baale of Kuto Community in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The deceased, Fatai Kehinde, a 48-year-old Point-of-Sale operator, was butchered by his assailants who chased him from his shop inside Kuto market to Kuto under bridge on Friday night, August 9, 2024.

Fatai was buried on Saturday at about 2pm

Speaking with punch a reliable source within Kuto community said one of the assailants pretended to be a customer.

“The k!lling happened last night at about 11pm. He is popularly called Faity; he is the son of Baale of Kuto. He operates a PoS shop and was about closing for the day when his k!llers drove to his shop,” the source said.

“One of them was said to have pretended to be a customer that wanted to withdraw money when about three other guys who wore masks came out and shot at their target

“However, the shot was said not to have penetrated. So, he tried to escape by taking to his heels but his assailants caught up with him under the Kuto bridge and butchered him to death.

“It’s possible that the assailants who k!lled Faity were the same gang who murdered the barber at Isale Oja Kuto about four days ago because we gathered that the assailants used the same SUV for their dastardly act.”

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, on Saturday confirmed the sad development.

“The Command is aware of the two incidents and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the those behind the killings,” the CP said.
