Veteran Yoruba Actress, Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi is dead. She died on Tuesday night at the age of 60.
President of the Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr. Latin, confirmed she died on Tuesday night.
Also, another senior TAMPAN member Tunde Ola-Yusuff also stated that “She left without a goodbye” in a post on social media.
Tragedy hit the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, in the early parts of 2021 when veteran actress, Folake Aremu popularly known as Orisabunmi, kickedHe wrote:
“ADIEU, She left without a Good bye. The sudden death of Mrs Fokake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.
Really a shock on everyone Iya Oosa, may God rest your Soul among the righteous.
R I P”
Orisabunmi was born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara state.She went to Ilu Ola Primary School and Secondary Commercial College.
The veteran actress was discovered by her ex-husband in the 80s while working as a teacher in Kwara state.
She was well known from the 80s for her roles as a priestess, pacifist, or the good witch in movies. She has played some iconic roles like ‘Asabi’ in “Oluwerimagboojo”, and the priestess in “Ayanmo Eda”.
She actress died just four months after the death of her ex-husband, Jimoh Aliu, who was popularly known as Aworo.
